Stephen is a talented and expert camera operator with 30 years’ varied experience. He’s comfortable under pressure, having honed his skills in live TV, where there’s only ever one take and no margin for error. Stephen is equally happy operating on tracks, gimbal, tripod or ‘in the hands’.

Stephen is a director of photography based in Wales, but is a seasoned traveller, and has worked on projects all over the world. His passion lies behind the camera, but Stephen is also an accomplished location director. He has directed documentaries for the BBC, films for The One Show, taster tapes and sequences for a variety of other broadcasters.
He is a constructive team leader who is used to encouraging and motivating on-screen talent, across different TV genres. Whether his role entails supporting a presenter to achieve the best possible delivery of a piece to camera, or whether he’s co-ordinating an adventure sequence on North America’s highest mountain range, Stephen’s composure and experience with people, allows him to ensure superlative performances from everyone involved.
He appreciates and knows how to implement compliance policies, and he is always empathetic to the well-being of the team.
Stephen is positive and highly versatile when working in challenging, adventurous locations and unpredictable conditions. He is ‘hands on’ and resourceful on a shoot and can willingly assemble aircraft rigs, set up time lapses, run with gimbals and erect cable cam runs in order to achieve the best possible results.
Stephen is always pushing visual boundaries using innovative technology including mini cam, large sensor camera, gimbals, cable cams, tracking systems, sliders, time lapse and motion control units. Stephen is currently shooting on the Arri Amira camera as well as various Sony systems.
